Who Designed My Website (And Why I’m Glad I Didn’t Do It Myself)

I get asked about my website more than I expected.

Not in a technical way…more in a “how did you make it feel like this?” kind of way.

The layout, the tone, the way everything flows without feeling overwhelming.

And the honest answer is: I didn’t do it myself.

I did briefly consider it.

Like most people, I thought, how hard can it be?
Pick a template, add some photos, write a few sections, done.

But the more I looked into it, the more I realized there’s a difference between having a website…and having one that actually feels like you.

And, more importantly, one that works.

There’s a very specific balance that’s hard to get right on your own.

You want something that feels elevated, but not cold.
Personal, but not oversharing.
Attractive, but not overwhelming.

And then there’s everything happening in the background that you don’t really see—how it shows up on Google, how it’s structured, how easy it is for someone to move through it without thinking too much.

That part matters more than people realize.

I ended up working with Black Velvet Designs, and it was one of those decisions that immediately felt like the right one.

Not just because of how the site looks now, but because of how easy the entire process was.

What I appreciated most was that I didn’t have to explain everything perfectly. All I did was answer a questionnaire with the relevant information, she created the site for me, and then we went from there with edits.

There was already an understanding of the industry, the tone, the balance between being inviting without being too much.

I didn’t feel like I had to over-direct or micromanage anything.

Which, if you’ve ever tried to build something yourself, you’ll know is…rare.

It also saved me a lot of time. And more than that, it saved me from second-guessing every decision!

Fonts, spacing, layout, what goes where, what should be said (and what shouldn’t)…all of those small details add up.

And when they’re done well, you don’t notice them individually.

You just feel that everything works.

I think that’s the biggest difference.

A good website doesn’t feel like effort when you’re using it.

It feels natural.

As a Los Angeles escort, your website is often the first impression someone has of you.

Before the message. Before the date. Before anything else.

So it matters.

Not in a “perfect and polished” way, but in a way that feels intentional.

Like it represents you properly.

And I’ve noticed the difference since having it done professionally.

Not just in how it looks, but in how people respond to it.

The kind of messages I receive. The tone. The level of respect. It sets expectations before you even meet.

If you’re thinking about building your own site, you absolutely can. I prefer to dedicate my time to caring for myself and my clients vs. learning how to create a website from scratch.

If you want something that actually reflects you and works quietly in the background without you having to think about it all the time…I’d recommend working with someone who already understands how all of this fits together. For me, that was Black Velvet Designs.

And I’m very glad I didn’t try to piece it together on my own.
